Apple has released tvOS 18.1, a relatively minor update focused on bug fixes and performance upgrades.
Apple’s release of tvOS 18.1 is now generally available on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K. As expected, there are no important public notes for this particular release.
In mid-September, Apple rolled out tvOS 18 along with other operating system updates. Apple doesn’t typically release powerful updates to its set-top boxes every year, but 2024 marks the second year in a row with significant changes.
New feature InSight lets you see detailed information about the actors on screen. Currently, InSight is only available for original movies and shows on Apple TV+, but the feature will be expanded to other services.
A number of new updates targeting both audio and accessibility are powered by Apple Intelligence. Dialogue enhancements allow for better separation of dialogue from background audio.
With the new SharePlay feature, users can now co-create Apple Music playlists on Apple TV. This works by playing music in the Apple Music app and selecting the SharePlay icon in the bottom right corner. A QR code will appear on the screen for others to scan.
