According to media reports, Truecaller in its remarks to TRAI claimed that not all telcos have the capacity to independently develop AI/ML-based solutions to reduce spam.

To prevent spam, it was proposed that telecommunications companies, regulators and third-party organizations must be able to exchange relevant data securely and lawfully.

On May 1, 2023, TRAI introduced new rules requiring AI spam filters for incoming calls and short messaging services (SMS).

Additionally, the company has asked TRAI to provide a precise definition of fraudulent calls and messages.

The authorities call on all concerned to take proactive action and call on public and private carriers to implement strict and efficient procedures to thwart unsolicited calls, unsolicited callers and spammers. are.

TRAI has invited stakeholders for written comments and objections in its latest consultation paper on conditions for network licensing under the Telecommunications Act, published on October 22.

In the first half of 2024 (January to June), more than 790,000 complaints were filed against unregistered telemarketers (UTMs). TRAI has also taken strong steps to stop nuisance calls and spammers.

Telcos have blacklisted more than 50 companies and blocked more than 275 million SIP DIDs, mobile numbers, Communication resource has been deleted.

Telecom companies have been directed by TRAI to promptly block promotional voice calls from telemarketers or unregistered senders utilizing SIP, PRI or other communication resources.
