U.S.-based chipmaker Qualcomm will hold its annual chip launch event, the Snapdragon Summit, on the Hawaiian island of Maui next week. Samsung Mobile eXperience president TM Roh will reportedly attend the event to meet with Qualcomm leadership and discuss various aspects of the ongoing collaboration.
Snapdragon Summit 2024 will be held for three days from October 21st to 23rd, and one of the big highlights of the event will be the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chips.
This new chip is expected to be included in Samsung’s next flagship phone, the Galaxy S25. And according to Korean media (via @Jukanlosreve), Samsung’s TM Roh will be on a plane to Maui next week to attend an event.
TM Roh also talked about the strategy and cooperation with Qualcomm, negotiating the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chips in the Galaxy S25 series, and increasing the price in several markets where phones equipped with Qualcomm’s solutions are used, such as the US. The final stages of a mixed reality project
Another reason for TM Roh’s visit to Snapdragon Summit 2024 in Maui is to consult with Qualcomm executives about the future of mixed reality (XR).
Since early 2023, both Samsung and Google have confirmed multiple times that they are working with Qualcomm to develop new XR (mixed reality) platforms.

Since then, both Samsung and Google have teased the XR platform several times, and at the foldable-centric event Galaxy Unpacked in June 2024, Samsung finally confirmed plans to debut an XR headset by the end of the year.
The clock is ticking, and with less than three months until 2025, the arrival of Samsung XR devices should be just around the corner.
