Tap to pay Apple iPhone

This morning, Apple announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is rolling out to more markets, including five new countries across Europe.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is a feature that allows businesses to use iPhone as a contactless terminal to accept payments. Customers simply hold their contactless card or iPhone or Watch near the merchant’s iPhone to complete the payment using the NFC chip inside the iPhone.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is supported on all iPhone models starting with iPhone XS. Like regular Apple Pay, transactions made using Tap to Pay are private and processed using a secure element within your phone’s A-series chip.

Newly supported countries include Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, Romania, and Sweden, and new payment partners include Adyen, SumUp, and Viva.

Starting today, Adyen, SumUp, and Viva.com will be the first payment platforms to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone in all five countries. Stripe is available in Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland, and Sweden. Erste Bank’s Global Payments is available in Austria, Czech Republic and Romania. Nexi is available in Austria and Sweden. Revolut is available in Austria and Ireland. myPOS and PAYONE are available in Austria. Square is available in Ireland. Zettle by PayPal is also available in Sweden. Austria’s hobex, Ireland’s BOI Payment Acceptance\Global Payments, and Sweden’s Surfboard Payments plan to enable Tap to Pay on iPhone for their customers in the coming weeks. Tap to Pay on iPhone works with contactless credit and debit cards from major payment networks, including American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
