Smartphone sales are likely to grow by 25-35% this Diwali

Kailash Lakhiyani, Founder Chairman, All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), predicted that smartphone sales are likely to increase by 25-35% this Diwali compared to last year. He added that gentrification and affordability are the main drivers of growth in the retail industry.

Earlier, Counterpoint Research noted that smartphone sales declined by 3% year-on-year (y-o-y) during the first phase of India’s festive season from September 26 to October 7.

The trend then picked up after Dussehra as both online and offline retailers came up with aggressive offers and sales.

“Mobile retailers offer cashbacks, discounts and prize draws for brands like Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi and Realme. With Samsung, discounts and freebies are offered directly from the retailer side,” Kailash said. said.

To make an even bigger impact, retailers are connecting with consumers through social media, he added.

According to Kailash, consumers are demanding more 5G phones from brands like Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi.

According to him, offline buyers prefer Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi in the price range of ₹30,000 and above. In the premium segment (above 50,000 ₹), buyers are choosing between Samsung and Apple.

Nilesh gupta. Sales Director Vijay said, “Smartphones are doing well due to high growth from premium models.In terms of value, we are expecting 10-12% growth year-on-year.”

Things are equally bright in the online space.

Ranjit Babu, Director, Consumer Electronics, Amazon India said: hinduism“This Diwali season, we are witnessing a significant spike in customer demand across our consumer electronics and appliances categories, especially in the premium segment.”

Within the smartphone category, the premium segment performed best, registering 30% year-on-year growth. The tablet category also recorded an exceptional performance, with 60% of sales coming from the premium segment.

And as customers look to bring the theatrical experience home, demand for large-screen TVs is strong, accounting for more than 50% of the TV division’s orders. Demand for speakers also surged six times.

In the computing market, the gaming laptop category performed outstandingly, with sales increasing by a whopping 19 times compared to the pre-festival period. Premium gaming laptops grew by a staggering 35x.

Similarly, the large appliance category is expected to see strong growth as many customers opt for premium upgrades and value-for-money products. Demand for washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners has surged, with orders from customers taking advantage of exchange offers increasing 1.7 times and orders from customers opting for no-cost EMI increasing 1.6 times.
