- Samsung has released a new teaser for its launch event in South Korea on October 21st.
- The teaser hints at a new Galaxy foldable model, likely the slimmer Galaxy Z Fold 6.
- It is unclear whether the launch of the new foldable device also aims for a global release.
Putting an end to all the rumors, Samsung has finally revealed the release date of its rumored foldable phone. The company’s Korean newsroom has shared a new teaser for the launch event scheduled for this coming Monday (October 21st).
However, the teaser shared on YouTube (via Digital Trends) does not specify whether it is the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition or the long-rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. According to the teaser, it does appear to be a later model, as the device is housed in an envelope that passes under the door rail.

The device featured in the teaser is indeed a book-shaped Galaxy foldable phone, with the screen lighting up to indicate the release date. Needless to say, the envelope is thinner than usual, and such a thin phone stuffed inside is reminiscent of Steve Jobs’ popular MacBook Air in 2008.
The latest teaser doesn’t reveal much other than the release date and a slimmer foldable phone, tentatively named Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. It is also unclear whether this event will be limited to the Korean market or if the device will be released in other regions as well.
That being said, one interesting thing about the teaser video description happens to be the tagline (Korean translation): “More Innovation.” The rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is something that is already available to the masses (Galaxy Z Fold 6), so it is highly unlikely that Samsung will call it revolutionary.
These evidences point to a slimmer Galaxy foldable phone launching next week. Previous leaks gave us a sneak peek at what this device could look like. It is believed to be slimmer than the current Z Fold 6, with a thickness of 10.6mm (when folded), compared to 12.1mm for the former. The leak also shows that the device should be comfortable to hold in one hand, with a boxy design with a brushed metal finish.
While the current Galaxy Z Fold 6’s triple camera doesn’t stick out that much, previous leaks of the upcoming foldable device have shown that the triple camera module has a separate camera module that sticks out quite a bit due to the thinness the device is built into. It suggests that the camera features the device where it is located.
Overall, Samsung seems to be aiming for a slimmer foldable device than its current, recently launched devices, such as the Honor Magic V3. This is one of the thinnest foldable phones available out there, measuring just 9.3mm thick when folded.
