According to a September report from South Korea’s National IT Industry Promotion Agency revealed by ET News, Samsung will make it easier to access the most searched settings in popular apps, including One UI’s keyboard and camera implementation. It shows that efforts are being made.
There’s little to do at this point, but early reports mention improving the performance of “touchpoints” to bring the most relevant settings to the forefront. Built around a predictive AI model, the technology allows you to repeatedly tap on specific image elements (for example, high-contrast focus points, large areas such as sky or ocean backgrounds) for great effect. While it’s still largely speculation at this point, it’s possible that Samsung might leverage AI in a more useful way than its novel “dog sunglasses” image editing software or its breathtakingly hyped LLM chatbot. It’s also a good indicator of what you’re trying to do.
There is no indication that Samsung is expecting Replace the entire settings menu With AI assistant. In a January 2024 TechRadar interview with Patrick Chome, Samsung’s head of customer experience, a spokesperson was quoted as saying: “My dream for Galaxy AI” [is to reach a point where] No need to go to settings at all. ” While readers may note the key word “need” in that statement, Shome goes on to say that “phones of the future will not have accessibility menus.” A goal, not a threat.
