Samsung is already working on the Galaxy A36, which will apparently be the successor to the Galaxy A35 launched in March. Today, the prototype A36 ran quite a few Geekbench runs. This brings to light the fact that Samsung is testing devices running Android 15.
This is the version Google released for its Pixels yesterday, but Samsung plans to release it in time for the arrival of the Galaxy S25 family next January. This probably means that if it runs Android 15 from day one, the Galaxy A36 won’t arrive until later, and the fact that it’s being tested on that version suggests that.
Given that the recently made official low-end Galaxy A16 5G is promised six major Android updates, the A36 should come with the same promise, and if it comes with Android 15 out of the box. If it survives on Android 21, that means it will end!
Based on the GPU, the Galaxy A36 will be powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The prototype tested today had 6GB of RAM, but more options may be added at launch. Interestingly, the A36 marks a change in chipset supplier, as the Galaxy A35 was powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1380 SoC.
