Nintendo has released a new exclusive app for mobile devices that is completely tied to the music of its most popular games. Perhaps more than any other video game publisher, Nintendo is synonymous with the music of its biggest titles. Series like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, and Fire Emblem are known not only for their engaging gameplay mechanics, but also for their diverse soundtracks. Now, Nintendo is trying to make the music in these games more accessible than ever, but of course, it’s locked its availability behind a small paywall.
The Nintendo Music app, now available for download for iOS and Android devices, was released without any prior warning from the Japanese game publisher. The app currently includes selected scores from some of the most popular Nintendo games of all time, across platforms such as NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, GameCube, and Switch. However, a Switch Online subscription is required to use the Nintendo Music app. Any version of Switch Online will work with the Nintendo Music app, so lower-level users won’t need to subscribe to an expensive app to access it.
