Apple has confirmed for the first time that iPhone owners in the European Union will have access to Apple Intelligence a little later than owners in the United States.

Apple Intelligence debuted in the US today with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 software updates. Apple also revealed that iPhone owners in the EU will be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence through an update to iOS 18, expected around next spring.

“In April, Apple Intelligence features will begin rolling out to iPhone and iPad users in the EU,” the company said. People living in 27 EU countries can now enjoy AI writing tools, image generation, an all-new Siri with improved language understanding, ChatGPT integration, and the macOS Sequoia 15.1 update released today, giving EU Mac owners access to Apple Intelligence features. will have access to the first wave of

Apple Intelligence is available on all iPhones with the Apple A17 Pro chip or newer, including iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. For Macs and iPads, Apple Intelligence requires Apple Silicon, an M1 chip or newer.

After you update your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, or macOS Sequoia 15.1, you must turn on Apple Intelligence in Settings or System Preferences. Apple Intelligence is in beta and has a waiting list. To use this, your device must have at least 4 GB of free storage space, and your Siri language and device region must be set to English (United States).

We are working on supporting more languages and features. iOS 18.2 expands Apple Intelligence to other English-speaking regions (Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom) with additional features such as AI image creation (Image Playground), custom emojis generated from prompts, and more (Genmoji), ChatGPT integration.

Additional language support will be available in April when Apple Intelligence debuts in the EU. Apple Intelligence will be further enhanced throughout 2025 to include Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and more. Language support will be added soon.
