Apple just discontinued its Powerbeats Pro wireless headphones. They are no longer available from the Apple Store and have been completely removed from Beats’ own website. But it’s not all bad news. A major renovation is still scheduled to take place soon.
The original Powerbeats Pro has been discontinued
Powerbeats Pro discontinued (via) mcroomers) is a surprise. It’s unclear why Apple didn’t continue producing the headphones until a successor was ready for release. However, since the original launch dates back to 2019, it will likely be impossible for the company to continue producing certain components.
Or your sales have dried up as a variety of modern Beats options become available.
If you’d like to purchase Powerbeats Pro, there are still units available at a discount through Amazon. But once inventory runs out, buyers will have to wait for Apple’s big refresh scheduled for next year.
New features in Powerbeats Pro 2
Just last month, Beats partnered with MLB star Shohei Ohtani to tease the first look at the upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2.
The only information shared was a rough release date of 2025 and a glimpse of the revised design.
Then I learned that Apple was planning to include a new heart rate sensor in the Powerbeats Pro 2. This allows the device to enter the health sector more seriously and seems like a perfect fit for fitness-oriented headphones.
This heart rate sensor will also be included in AirPods Pro 3 next year.
It’s been a long time since the original Powerbeats Pro was released, so we’re sure there will be a lot of upgrades in version 2.
My colleague Chance writes:
Looking at Beats’ other recent releases, it’s easy to guess what Powerbeats Pro 2 has to offer. For example, Beats may use its own custom processor to improve cross-platform compatibility with Android and iPhone. This is likely to include Find My support, one-touch pairing, and more across both ecosystems.
Beats and Apple Alternatives
If you don’t want to wait for Powerbeats Pro 2, here are some alternatives you can get right now.
