This seems to get people talking. The show continues at the beloved South Philadelphia movie theater, years after the credits rolled for the last movie.
The Riverview Plaza movie theater has been closed since Regal United Artists on South Columbus Boulevard at Reed Street closed in 2020.
However, a new theater company has signed a lease to reopen Riverview, NBC10 reporting partner Philadelphia Business Journal reports.
Massachusetts-based Apple Cinemas plans to reopen its 17-screen theater, marking its first opening south of New York, PBJ.com reported.
“Bert Blatstein, CEO of Tower Investments, which owns Riverview Plaza, said the Apple Cinemas theater is expected to open within a year,” PBJ’s Paul Schwedelson he wrote.
“It was an entertainment block,” Blatstein told PBJ. “We’re going back to the entertainment block. People are going to be very, very happy because it’s a great theater company and it’s going to be a great theater again.”
The exact date Apple Cinemas will begin showing movies has not been disclosed.
