TL;DR
- Google has released the stable Android 15 update for Pixel smartphones.
- The new software offers Privacy Spaces features, more anti-theft features, and App Pairs.
We’ve been anticipating the stable release of Android 15 for a while now, and the wait is finally over. Google has released a stable version of Android 15 for Pixel devices. The new update will roll out to Pixel 6 series and later, Pixel 6a and later, Pixel Fold and later, and Pixel Tablet.
Android 15 certainly brings many notable features, including privacy and security enhancements. Perhaps the biggest addition in this regard is the Privacy Spaces feature. Google can finally follow in the footsteps of OEMs and hide sensitive apps. This feature hides the specified app from your phone’s app list, notifications, etc. If you want to access your privacy space, you will need to authenticate yourself again.

Android permissions Contributor Mishal Rahman previously detailed how Privacy Spaces works. That’s when he discovered that he could use his existing screen lock or a new screen lock. Either way, we want to try this feature and see how it compares to the OEM solution.
Google recently released a theft detection lock feature on Android smartphones. Android 15 offers some additional protections. This includes authentication requirements for removing the SIM and disabling Find My Device.
Android 15: What else?
Android 15 also brings features specific to foldables and tablets: the app pairing feature and an easy way to pin the taskbar. With the latter feature, Google adds a toggle to the taskbar that lets you pin it or make it temporary on the fly.
However, we are very excited about the App Pair feature, as it has been available for a long time on foldable devices from companies like Microsoft and Samsung. App Pairs lets you save a specific combination of split-screen apps to your home screen for easy launch. So, if you often use WhatsApp and YouTube in split-screen view, you can quickly launch this combo from your home screen.
Other notable features Google mentioned include enhanced camera controls for third-party apps, the ability for carrier messaging apps to send and receive texts via satellite, and the ability to log in to apps that use a passkey with one tap. It will be done.
