TL;DR
- Within the YouTube Music app, we’ve discovered a clue that the Now Playing widget may soon be supported on the cover display of Galaxy Z Flip devices.

Samsung has made its clamshell foldable devices stylish and trendy with the Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 6 are primarily intended to be used in the open position, but they also come with a cover display that makes it easier to operate the phone when it’s folded and closed. Widgets are available on this cover display (which Samsung calls “Flex Window”), allowing users to gather information and perform basic tasks without opening the phone. If you’re a fan of Cover Display, you’ll be happy to know that Cover Display could become even more useful in the future, as YouTube Music may add support for this Cover Display in the Now Playing widget.

YouTube Music v7.24.51 indicates that Google may soon bring support for a “Now Playing” widget to the cover display of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip devices. This is a new widget service added to the YouTube Music app.

We also found code in AndroidManifest.xml (a critical file that contains information about your app) that matches Samsung’s recommendations for creating widgets for Flex Windows on Galaxy Z Flip devices.
Once the widget is fully added and available in the app, Galaxy Z Flip users will be able to enable it. after that Settings > Cover screen > Widgets. We believe that the cover screen widget will allow you to easily control YouTube Music from the cover screen of your flip phone..
