Following last week’s announcement, YouTube has broadly rolled out a new mini-player and redesigned mobile settings on Android.
The previous mini-player was docked above the bottom bar, with the player on the left, followed by the video and channel name. Play/pause and the final “x” complete the controls.
This new design is similar to Android’s picture-in-picture window, but with a bar at the bottom (light theme or dark theme (ambient mode works best here)) and a 10-second rewind next to play/pause. and skips are placed. You can move the mini-player to any of the four corners, or pinch out to expand the window to fill the width of your screen. Tap the top right corner to close. The transition to system PiP when exiting the app is smooth enough.
This mini-player redesign is widely rolling out in version 19.41.39 of YouTube for Android. If it is not displayed yet, please force stop it from the app information.
Last week, YouTube announced a sleep timer for everyone. This should also become more widely available, but tweakable playback speeds have yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, YouTube has redesigned the settings menu and added section headers (Account, Video & Audio Settings, Help & Policies, Developer Settings (nothing listed)) and thin outline-style icons for each item. did.
