Xiaomi is about to launch a new tablet duo: Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro. If you want to know more about it, here’s the latest information leaked directly from China.
The Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro sequels remain in the same mid-range category in terms of hardware, but switch to a new chipset. For example, the Pad 7 is said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, while the Pad 7 Pro will use Qualcomm’s more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.
By comparison, the Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, respectively. The leak also mentions that both the upcoming Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro will feature the same 11.16-inch LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
We learned a little about the batteries that power the Pad 7 series tablets. We don’t yet know the size of the internal battery, but we do know that the Pad 7’s battery supports 47W wired fast charging, while the Pad 7 Pro’s battery supports 67W wired fast charging.
There is no information yet on the release date of the Pad 7 series, but it is likely to be launched alongside the Xiaomi 15 flagship, which is scheduled to launch later this month.
The Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro debuted on the market in April 2023, so that’s over a year ago. The Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro will likely replace two older tablets, so we hope they don’t cost that much.
There’s still some information we don’t know about the Pad 7 tablet yet, including what kind of camera it will use and the exact size of the battery. All these details affect the final price of the slate, so it’s difficult to guess how much it will cost.
At launch, the Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro were priced at 300-400 euros, but there is no indication that Xiaomi plans to keep the same price for the Pad 7 series as well. I think we’ll know more details later this month or closer to the release date.
