there’s a new one MacBook Pro Apple is touting some of the most promising features and specs from the company I’ve ever seen. Certainly, the Thunderbolt 5 ports on the M4 Pro and M4 Max models will appeal to creators and professionals looking for faster, more powerful data transfers, and the 1,000 nits of peak SDR brightness will satisfy any digital nomad. Still, it’s the boringly impressive upgrade that appeals to me the most: battery life.

With the new M4 MacBook Pro, Apple is touting up to 24 hours of battery life, a first for a Mac. Both the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 and the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro or M4 Max are rated for 1 day, but the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro or M4 Max is rated for 22 hours. It’s just not enough.
Still, this is a small upgrade compared to the previous generation M3 MacBook, which had 18 hours of battery life. A few more hours with the M4 variant could be the difference between successfully uploading your video project and missing your deadline. It also provides more durability for everyday tasks, especially when you’re on the go and don’t have an outlet nearby. I could benefit from the extra energy when working at exhibitions or on airplanes.
Apple has added battery improvements to the more efficient M4 processor, delivering more performance per watt. As AI is incorporated into more workflows like photo editing and coding, “each chip has increased memory bandwidth, so large language models and other large-scale projects can run smoothly on the device.” ,” Apple said in a press release.
