Android 15 is now available on select Android smartphones. Development began in February, and after going through three phases, it’s finally starting to roll out on Google’s Pixel smartphones. If you’ve been waiting for the latest software, you don’t have to wait that long.
If you’re wondering when your current Android phone will get the Android 15 update, here are all the details so far.
When will Android 15 be released?
As mentioned earlier, a typical Android release cycle has three phases: developer preview, public beta testing, and final release.
Developer preview began on February 16, 2024. Developer previews allow app developers to see upcoming changes and familiarize themselves with new software. This allows you to plan ahead for adding new features to your own apps, if needed.
On April 11th, the first public beta of Android 15 was released. This allows anyone who wants to try out the software to test new features prior to release. Beta testers can report issues and bugs to Google, which helps shape the final release of the software. Keep in mind that public beta versions are much more stable and have fewer bugs than developer preview builds. It was still considered early software, so it wasn’t perfect.
As of August 20th, Google has released Android 15 beta 4.1 for eligible devices enrolled in Google’s beta testing program. This is open to the public, so no special invitation or account is required. Once you’ve enrolled in the program, simply download the Android 15 beta.
On October 15, 2024, Google began rolling out Android 15 to select devices. Because Android smartphones are made up of several different manufacturers, major OS upgrades are rolled out at different times. Google makes Pixel hardware, so it makes sense that Pixel devices would be the first to ship with Android 15.
Since each manufacturer is different, we’ll discuss each one separately as to when the final release of Android 15 will be released.
google pixel
The quickest way to access Android 15 is to get a Google Pixel device. That’s because Android is developed by Google, and the Pixel lineup, like Apple’s iPhone and iOS, is Google’s own hardware, so it makes sense that the Pixel would be the first to get it.
Android 15 is available on the following Pixel devices:
Unfortunately, Pixel 5 and earlier don’t get the Android 15 update. However, if you have one of the Pixel devices listed above, you’re good to go.
samsung galaxy
Samsung’s One UI 6 was one of the biggest visual upgrades in years, and the brand is rumored to double down on the visuals and improve animations with One UI 7.
Unfortunately, while it was initially thought that the One UI 7 beta would begin rolling out soon, Samsung appeared to reveal during its keynote that there would be a significant delay. How late were you? It’s likely to arrive at the same time as the Galaxy S25 launches in January, meaning the delay will be at least three months.
As of now, Samsung has not announced any concrete plans for which devices will be able to run Android 15. But we can make some educated guesses.
First, Samsung offers at least two years of software upgrades, which was recently extended to seven years for the latest Galaxy S24 lineup. With this in mind, it’s safe to assume that Samsung devices that shipped with Android 13 out-of-the-box will be eligible for the Android 15 update.
Another device that should run Android 15 are flagship and mid-range smartphones that launch with Android 11 and have four years of major OS upgrades. This was Samsung’s policy before it changed in 2007.
Based on these factors, here is a list of Samsung devices that are likely to run Android 15.

There are also Samsung’s Galaxy F series and M series phones. That means there are a lot of Samsung phones that could receive the Android 15 update. We’ve listed some of the more popular and modern devices here, and as long as they fall within the criteria listed above, they should come with Android 15.
Samsung will provide a confirmed list of supported devices for Android 15 later and will update accordingly.
one plus
OnePlus will announce OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 at an event on October 24th. New features will be revealed at that time, but in the meantime, it highlights how the software will focus on speed and AI. Also during the event, we will confirm which devices are eligible and when new software will be released.
We can make an educated guess as to which OnePlus smartphones will come with OxygenOS 15 based on the brand promise. They include:
The arrival of OxygenOS 15 follows the availability of Android 15 in beta for two OnePlus smartphones, OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open, starting May 15, 2024. Manual installation is required, and specific steps for that process were explained on the OnePlus forums. . We strongly recommend that you perform a backup before installation. Additionally, your device must be running Android 14.0.0.610 or lower.
Issues have been reported after installing the Android 15 beta, so be careful if you plan to install it on your only phone. If that doesn’t deter you from installing Android 15 Beta 2 on your OnePlus 12 or OnePlus Open, check out our forums for installation instructions.
motorola
Motorola has announced the list of phones eligible for the Android 15 update. The list is a bit broad, so phones especially purchased within the past year are likely to be covered.
there is nothing
Currently, you can get Android 15 beta on your Nothing Phone if you have a Nothing Phone 2 or Nothing Phone 2a. Unfortunately, those who own the original Nothing Phone are out of luck.
If you have one of these eligible Nothing Phones, visit the Nothing Community forum to learn how to download Android 15 beta on your device.
Based on the promises made by Nothing at the phone’s launch, we can expect Android 15 to arrive on the following devices:
honor
At this time, Android 15 beta is only available from Honor on the following devices:
If you have one of these devices, you can get Android 15 beta now. As with OnePlus, there are some known issues, some of which have been fixed. As of July 30th, the only real concern seems to be that the chances of the phone restarting in certain scenarios remain slim.
Isn’t that a deterrent? Check out the instructions on how to download Android 15 beta for Honor Magic 6 Pro or Magic V2 from the Honor Developers page.
Additionally, the following phones are expected to receive the Android 15 update.
Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco
With Android 14, Xiaomi has completely overhauled the Android skin, from the visuals to the underlying code. In this process, the majority of the company’s devices have migrated from the groundbreaking MIUI to the new HyperOS, which will also run on other smart devices. Including the company’s EV series.
Xiaomi has already published Android 15 developer preview builds for its flagship Xiaomi 14, along with the Xiaomi 13T Pro and its premium tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro (12.4 inches only). Visit Xiaomi’s Android 15 beta update support page to download and install the respective firmware update.
The company has not yet announced which devices (in addition to those mentioned above) will receive the Android 15 update, but we can speculate based on previous claims about the number of updates. For the sake of clarity, we’ll limit ourselves to phones that are only available worldwide, not limited to a particular region.
Here is a list of phones from Xiaomi and its sister brands Redmi and Poco.
- Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra
- Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra, 13 Lite
- Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro
- Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro
- Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro
- xiaomi pad 6
- Redmi Note 13 (LTE and 5G versions), 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Plus
- Redmi 13C
- Redmi Note 12
- Redmi 12 (LTE and 5G version)
- Poco X6 Pro
- Poco F6 and F6 Pro
- Poco M6 and M6 Pro
Like previous MIUI, Xiaomi’s HyperOS updates are not necessarily tied to Android updates. This means two phones can get the same HyperOS version with similar features while running different generations. This is good news for cheaper and older smartphones that are excluded from receiving the Android 15 update, such as the flagship Mi 11 and Mi 10 series.
realm
OnePlus’ sister brand Realme is quite popular in Asia and is slowly climbing the charts in other parts of the world as well. The interface it runs on is called Realme UI, but the interface looks a lot like OnePlus’ OxygenOS, and Oppo itself draws primarily from its parent Oppo’s ColorOS.
Like OnePlus, Realme also has an Android 15 beta program, which is exclusive to the Realme 12 Pro Plus, but only for users in India. If you have an Indian unit, instructions can be found in the Realme community post.
However, we expect more devices to be rolled out in more regions following the release of Google and Oppo’s respective updates. Based on previous promises, here are all the Realme smartphones expected to get the Android 15 update:
Like Xiaomi, we limited the list to devices that are widely available around the world.
Keep this in mind when installing Android 15 or its beta version.
Google has officially released Android 15, but only some devices have the final build, namely Pixel smartphones. Other manufacturers also plan to roll out their own custom user interfaces based on Android 15 on their own schedules, and Samsung is usually first in the race, but the One UI 7 interface has faced significant delays. I am.
If you don’t have a Pixel, you can still access the Android 15 beta, but don’t forget to back up your important data in case the beta malfunctions before the final version is privately released. It is important to keep the pixel mobile phone.
