Android 15 includes useful new features that turn your Pixel tablet (or Pixel phone) into a hands-on smart home control dashboard while charging. This new screensaver isn’t just a static display; you can actually control your device directly from the screensaver.
To get this up and running, go to Settings and look for “Display & Touch.” Next, tap on “Screen Saver”, select the “Home Control” option and you’re good to go. When you dock or plug in your Android 15 device, the Home Control screensaver takes over. Google Home[お気に入り]Tabs appear for instant access to lights, cameras, thermostats, and more. Need to turn off the downstairs lamp or peek into the doorway camera? Just tap the screen – it’s that easy.
I tried out this new feature on my Pixel Tablet and I love it. I think this might be useful on a phone for some users, but I think it’s best suited for tablets, especially the Pixel Tablet, which has a charging dock. Having these controls right at your fingertips when you dock your Pixel Tablet next to your desk is super fast and convenient.
Google has recently been pushing for easier smart home control in a number of areas, including the new Home Panel on Google TV and the recently released Favorites widget on Android. And I’m all for that. In my opinion, anything that simplifies smart home control is a win.
And here’s one interesting piece of information. This feature isn’t just for Google Home users. Android Authority has discovered that other smart home platforms could also get in on the action. Apparently, it’s a fairly easy process for other smart home apps to add this feature, which is great news for those who aren’t fully invested in Google’s ecosystem.
Beyond the new smart home screensaver, there are some other notable improvements for Pixel tablets that were also just announced. Notifications now sync between your Pixel phone and tablet when they’re on the same Wi-Fi network. Additionally, the digital photo frame has been updated with a new watch design and the ability to share photos directly from the display. These new features, including screensavers, are now available on Google Pixel tablets and Pixel phones running Android 15, and Google says these features will soon be available on more devices. states.
