At a glance

Expert rating

Strong Points

  • rotatable metal ring
  • MagSafe compatible
  • Generous cutouts for camera control
  • The textured surface of the frame provides excellent grip

Cons

  • not particularly colorful
  • Buttons are a little rattling

our verdict

The Torras Ostand 360° Spin Fusion MagSafe Case is a rugged case for iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max with a unique twist. A metal ring on the back acts as a magnet to properly position the case on the MagSafe charger, allowing it to be folded and rotated. This allows it to be used as a stand on a surface and as a hand holding aid.

The Torras brand is no stranger to third-party providers of iPhone cases. The same goes for the Torras 360° Ostand Spin model that has been available since the iPhone 13. Of course, it’s getting a makeover this year for the iPhone 16 generation. . We tested the Ostand 360° Spin Fusion MagSafe case with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Camera controls: cutouts instead of buttons

Not much has changed since the introduction of the 360° Ostand Spin, except for its size. Last year, the iPhone 15 Pro got rid of the mute button cutout on the left side and replaced it with an action button. This year, all iPhone 16 smartphones have a new cutout on the right side for camera controls.

In contrast to Apple and its Beats subsidiary, Torras does not rely on sapphire glass buttons embedded in the case that transfer finger pressure and touch input to the camera control buttons on the side of the iPhone. Camera control buttons are different from volume buttons. and an action button. The 360° Ostand Spin features a simple cutout, like most manufacturers of affordable iPhone cases.

When it came to cases, I was convinced that the question of “cutouts or case buttons” would be a clear dividing line. Only time will tell if this is the case (I’m not kidding). At least on the 360° Ostand Spin, the cutout is very wide and camera control functionality is limited to a minimum. However, my fingers aren’t particularly large, so people with larger fingers will probably be happy with a few millimeters of space around the camera button.

visually suppressed

Taurus Incident is visually appealing. It comes in four different colors that are muted similar to the colors of the Pro iPhone itself. Available in black, grey, gold and transparent. The transparent version differs from the other three in that it is made from a single mold, so to speak, and has a smooth overall surface.

…and line it up again with the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the inner Titan Desert Sand.

The color variations are more visually interesting than the transparent versions. The frame is the specified color, the surface has a texture reminiscent of (artificial) leather, and the grip is good. The metal ring on the back is also fully colored.

The back is made of hard plastic and is reminiscent of frosted glass. Some variations have a little more color, but they’re still translucent overall, allowing the color of your iPhone to show through slightly and the Apple logo to shine. The “gold” case looks best. At least not the black ones. (The gold in the quotes is because the gold on the case is as little gold as the gold on the Titanium Desert Sand iPhone 16 Pro.)

integrated stand

The most interesting thing about the 360° Ostand Spin is the magnetic ring embedded in the back, which gives it its name. It can be extended, tilted, and rotated 360 degrees, snapping neatly into place with every quarter turn.

When extended, the ring functions as an integrated iPhone stand in landscape or portrait orientation. The hinge’s resistance is strong enough to hold even the heavy iPhone 16 Pro Max firmly, and the stand takes up less than an inch of its weight.

This ring also acts as a magnet for adjusting the position of the MagSafe charger. Unfortunately, this magnet isn’t strong enough to secure your iPhone 16 to metal surfaces. That would have been a nice bonus.

Overall the finish is quite good. This case has a millimeter-precise fit and a fully enclosed underside, giving it much better retention than Apple’s own cases or the new Beats case. The latter has a wide cutout that runs almost from edge to edge. However, the case is quite hard, making it very difficult to remove the iPhone. My only criticism is the buttons. The buttons fit fairly loosely into the recesses, and you can hear a rattling noise when you shake the case, regardless of whether you have an iPhone in it or not.

Should I buy the Torras Ostand 360° Spin Fusion MagSafe case?

The Torras Ostand 360° Spin Fusion MagSafe Case is a rugged case for the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. The finish on the Torras Ostand 360° Spin Fusion MagSafe case is good, and the fit on the iPhone 16 Pro Max we tested was very tight. Like many other manufacturers, Torras solves the camera control button problem by implementing generous cutouts. In terms of color, the case follows the “colorfulness” of the Pro iPhone and is very subtle.
