Tesla’s in-car infotainment system is considered one of the best in the automotive industry. You can control each side of the vehicle using the giant touchscreen system in the center of your Tesla. Thanks to smooth animations, rich features, and timely system updates, you’ll never feel left out.
However, one of the drawbacks of Tesla cars is that they do not come with support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. It can be a hassle, especially if you’re used to the interfaces that Android and Apple offer on those platforms. If you’re looking for a way to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay with your Tesla, a Kickstarter product could solve your problem.
Tesla product maker Teslogic announced on Kickstarter the launch of a new device called Screenmate. This product is a small computer that connects to your Tesla monitor and allows you to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from Android and iPhone respectively.
The best part is that you can use everything on your phone, including viewing and replying to messages, selecting navigation apps, playing Android games, and even connecting a game console to your Tesla’s screen via HDMI or USB.
Screenmate takes only about 10 minutes to install, and once drivers press and hold three fingers on the display for a few seconds, the device can take control of their Tesla’s display. All of the car’s original controls and features remain intact. Screenmate is based on Android 14 and also provides support for third-party front-mounted wireless cameras.
Float your dashboard over the apps you’re using, or use “dual view” mode to see the Tesla interface on one side and your app/game on the other. You can. Additionally, you have the option to use your Android or iPhone as a secondary display to view dashboard information.
Screenmate supports Model Y (all), Model 3 (2017-2023), Model S (2021 and newer), Model X (2021 and newer), and Model 3 Refresh 2024. This device is available at an early bird offer of $549. single unit.
