This iPad competitor is half off in Amazon’s Big Deal Days sale

Most people still think the iPad is the best tablet you can buy. But Apple’s products are certainly not wallet-friendly. Android tablets are often much cheaper and can do much of the same things.

Let’s take Honor Pad 8 as an example. This is a decent Android tablet that looks a lot like an iPad. You can do almost anything you want with it, which is why we gave it 4 out of 5 stars in our review. Normally priced at £270, it’s now even cheaper in Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale.

Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale includes Honor Pad 8 reduced to £141 from regular price £270. That’s a 48% savings, almost half the price of this iPad’s competitors.

It’s a slim slate with a large 12-inch screen. At just 6.9mm thick, the Pad 8 is especially thin for a value-oriented tablet. It weighs just 520g and the screen bezels are even thinner than the iPad Pro. The color is solid and has an interesting name, “Blue Hour.” The rear camera bump features a 5MP snapper, matching the pixel count with the front selfie camera.

The display itself is a 2000×1200 LCD with support for 10-bit color. A 10:6 aspect ratio means that the black bars will be smaller when watching 16:9 video for TV. It’s backed by an impressive array of eight DTS:X-certified speakers, allowing you to play songs with impressive clarity and volume for a low-cost device.

Under the hood, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU, which puts it somewhere between entry-level and mid-range territory. It’s paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while a 7250mAh battery does the job of keeping the lights on. It also supports 22W wired charging. It runs Android 12 and has Honor’s MagicUI 6.1 skin on top. Enable cross-device collaboration between your phone and tablet, and view up to four apps simultaneously in multiple windows.

The Honor Pad 8 is available now from the Honor UK website. The 4GB/128GB model in Blue Hour color is priced at £269 and the device will ship to customers in mid-November. Those who pre-order within the next three weeks will receive £20 off the regular price and get the Honor Pad 8 Flip Cover for £15 instead of £25.
