Important points

- The shutter button is designed to work underwater, making it easier to take photos and videos.
- The flash-chip smartphone is expected to launch later this month with an upgraded camera, new design, upgraded internals, and Android 15.
OPPO may not be a household name in the US, but it has been pushing the boundaries of smartphone cameras on Android for years. The previous flagship OPPO Find X7 Ultra outperformed the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in a head-to-head camera comparison test. Now, it looks like OPPO may take things even further and borrow key features from Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 16, in a not-so-subtle way.

Is the phone only for calls?
OPPO is gearing up to launch its next-generation flagship series, the Find There is. For those unfamiliar, the iPhone 16 introduced a pressure-sensitive shutter button just below the power button. This button allows users to quickly launch the camera app, adjust settings such as aperture, exposure, zoom, and perform other camera-related functions. And it looks like OPPO is introducing similar features to the Find X8 series.
OPPO brings iPhone 16 camera control to Android
A video shared by OPPO Product Manager Zhou Yibao on Weibo (via Android Authority) shows that the upcoming Find X8 will have a shutter button similar to the one found on the iPhone 16. The video shows users being able to quickly launch the camera app. Similar to the iPhone 16, you can also use double-tap and swipe gestures to adjust the zoom level.
What’s interesting is that the video shows that the Find X8’s shutter button works underwater, including swipe gestures. This feature is especially useful for shooting at pools and beaches, where touchscreens usually have a hard time working, and allows you to easily capture both photos and videos with the shutter button.
The video also shows some sample shots from the camera, but we recommend testing it yourself to see how it really works in real-world situations. OPPO Find X8 is expected to launch with an upgraded camera module, refreshed design, Android 15, and improved internal hardware. A recent leak gave us the first glimpse of this smartphone, but we’re likely to get more official details from the brand when it officially launches later this month.
