TL;DR
- OnePlus 13 renders may show tweaks to the camera package and a new look for the handset’s edges.
- OnePlus plans to launch the phone in China by the end of October.
- The company has already released some hardware details, but this is the first time we’ve seen the actual device.
October is shaping up to be a big month for OnePlus. The company has just announced plans to launch Oxygen OS 15, and on the hardware front, OnePlus 13 should be arriving soon. We expect this phone to debut soon (at least in China), but there are still many questions about how it will be integrated. Today we’re giving you a little preview of what the company’s next flagship will look like as we check out images of a possible OnePlus 13.
We’re looking at several different sources here, and the photo in question is from Chinese social media. Prominent leaker Digital Chat Station shared the image on Weibo earlier today, but the post was later edited to remove the photo. I don’t know if that’s to protect the source, or if what’s being shown can be misleading (via digital trends). As a result, we’re going to take all of this with a healthy dose of skepticism until something more concrete arrives.
First, we have a physical photo of what appears to be the OPPO Find X8, as well as a photo showing off a previously unknown OnePlus handset, believed to be the OnePlus 13. The camera placement certainly reminds us of the OnePlus 12’s layout, but here some changes have been made to the flash and the border that runs from the camera to the edge of the phone has been removed, allowing it to slide over the Hasselblad H. Now it’s a little more noticeable.
While this may be an important discovery, the other two images here are a little more impressive, depicting the OnePlus 13 hardware in high-quality renders. Based on how these arrived, it’s unclear whether these represent actual leaks or perhaps well-produced mockups based on photos like the one above. At least they certainly look like they’re up to the task.
In addition to the angled shots you’ve seen all along at the top of this article, I also took a close-up of the back panel. Its textured finish appears to be very slip-resistant, but the quality of the material used can have a big impact on the feel of the finish. As we check out the flat metal edges, we’re especially thinking about how this phone feels in the hand. It almost resembles the OnePlus X and is noticeably different from the company’s recent models.
According to what we’ve heard from OnePlus executives, the hardware will arrive with a very capable Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, but perhaps the most interesting thing we’ve heard about this phone so far is its It’s probably related to the display. The company has already started talking about panels that support high local refresh rates, allowing the active part of the screen to update more frequently than the static part.
For now, our main concern is whether OnePlus will live up to expectations of launching OnePlus 13 in China by the end of this month. It’s still quite a while before this phone goes on sale in the US, but it would be nice to at least get some confirmation of the design and hardware specs.
