Apple is set to announce its M4 Mac lineup in a series of press releases next week, with Apple’s head of marketing Greg Joswiak calling it “an exciting week of announcements.” These are some Apple products that will probably no longer be available for purchase from the Apple Store after that story.
M3 MacBook Pro
Apple is expected to announce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. Other than the chip upgrade, the new MacBook Pros are pretty much the same, but the base model MacBook Pro is likely to start with 16GB of RAM. The new base model M4 MacBook Pro should add three Thunderbolt ports, up from two.
The cheapest 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M4 chip will also arrive in space black for the first time, according to packaging leaks and subsequent unboxing information. We’re finally saying goodbye to the M3 MacBook Pro and its Space Gray finish.
M2 Mac Mini
This month, Apple is announcing its biggest redesign of the Mac mini in 14 years, with a much smaller design, front-facing ports, and more. Apple last updated the Mac mini in January 2023 with the M2 and M2 Pro chips. The last update brought the first Mac mini with a Pro chip, but in the coming weeks we’ll be seeing a redesigned Mac mini with the M4 and M4 Pro chip, saying goodbye to the classic design. .
M3 iMac
This month, the iMac will be upgraded from the M3 chip to the M4 chip. Also likely to be a light refresh, the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad will move from Lightning to USB-C, arguably waving goodbye to Apple’s overlong proprietary connector. .
If you were thinking of buying one of these products, you might want to wait until the next Apple Event.
