The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to undergo a major design change that could attract many users, but will it be enough to increase sales?

Demand for the iPhone 16 may be lower than expected, as Apple has directed it to cut 10 million units from this quarter through the first half of next year. We’ve previously covered how Apple Intelligence won’t impact iPhone sales, but it will likely need to make some significant changes next year to maintain its market position. We’ve heard that Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max will be equipped with a smaller dynamic island next year.

iPhone 17 Pro Max will exclusively feature small dynamic islands thanks to metalens

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to be Apple’s most popular iPhone next year, given its feature set and modern internals. However, the company is also looking to introduce some visual changes to give the ‘Pro’ model a bit of a gap from the standard model. According to technology analyst Jeff Pugh (via mcroomers), iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a smaller dynamic island. As part of ongoing efforts to eliminate infiltration on the front lines.

Pu claims that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will use a “metalens” for Face ID, which could cause the dynamic island to be much narrower than the current version. This change is limited to the Pro Max version of the iPhone 17, while the smaller “Pro” remains the current version. Apparently, the standard model is also excluded.

For those not familiar with lens technology, a metalens is a thin, flat lens with a microscopic pattern etched into the top that allows it to focus light more precisely. The analyst did not share exact details on how the company will use this technology to miniaturize the iPhone 17 Pro’s dynamic island, but the company is on the right track compared to its competitors. I’m here. Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple cut iPhone 16 orders by 10 million units due to lack of design innovation. This raises the question of whether smaller Dynamic Islands will be enough to increase the company’s sales.

Apple introduced Dynamic Island with the launch of iPhone 14 Pro models, and the technology also made its way to standard models last year. Apple’s ultimate design goal is a clean front with no distracting elements on the display. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to go on sale next spring, with major design changes expected, including a new “Air” model that will cost more than the “Pro” model.
