2025 could be a big year for the iPad, with Apple thought to be planning refreshes for three models: the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and the base iPad.
This all comes from Mark Garman, who recently claimed that the iPad 11 and new iPad Air will arrive in the spring (meaning between late March and late June) alongside the iPhone SE 4. in his latest newsletter. Mr. Bloomberg said the same thing again.
But this time, Garman added that the iPad 11 will apparently have almost the same design as the iPad 10.9 (2022), but will be faster. This is expected to enable support for Apple Intelligence as well.
In any case, if Garman is correct, these two tablets will be available before too long. But if you’re looking forward to the new iPad Pro, you may be waiting quite a while, as Garman says in the same article that he won’t. This is unlikely to happen until late 2025 or early 2026.
At that time, it will likely feature the new M5 chipset, but Garman doesn’t expect any other major changes since the current model’s design is only about six months old.
Mostly minor upgrades
So while 2025 may be a big year in terms of the number of new iPads, I doubt these new models will be significant upgrades over the current models.
So it’s safe to buy the iPad Pro (2024) right now. That’s because the next model is likely to still have a long wait, and perhaps only with a new chipset. The next iPad Air could arrive in the first half of 2025, so it might be worth the wait, but the iPad Air (2024) is still fairly new, so again we may not see many upgrades. .
The best value of these products is probably the iPad 11. Unlike the latest Air and Pro models, iPad 10.9 (2022) doesn’t support Apple Intelligence, so even if this upcoming model comes with a new chipset, it could be open. Create a whole new world of functionality.
As always, I’m going to take these claims with a grain of salt, but Gurman has a great track record, so the timing of these releases could very well work out.
