TL;DR
- OPPO has announced its high-end mobile phone “Find X8” series in China.
- The new phone features MediaTek Dimensity 9400 flagship processor, IP69 rating, and alert slider.
- OPPO previously confirmed that the Find X8 Pro will have an Apple-style shutter button that supports swiping to zoom in and out.
OPPO has been teasing the arrival of the Find X8 series for the past few weeks, providing details bit by bit in the lead up to the event. But that day has finally arrived, as a new flagship Android smartphone has just been announced in China.
OPPO previously confirmed that the phone offers MediaTek Dimensity 9400 flagship processor, Hasselblad-branded camera, wireless charging support, alert slider, and IP68 and IP69 ratings. However, the company revealed that the two devices share 80W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds, but only offer 33W wired speeds via a PPS charger.
The Find X8 series also supports the so-called OPPO Mag ecosystem of magnetic accessories, albeit via an optional case. OPPO Mag accessories include an ultra-slim power bank, an 80W 20,000mAh power bank, and a 50W wireless charger with cooling fan.
The brand also revealed some great new software features thanks to its Color OS 15 skin. Perhaps the most notable feature for photography enthusiasts is the previously reported reflective eraser tool for photos.
The phone also offers a so-called shadowless snapshot feature. The company says that instead of using a dedicated snapshot mode, you can simply raise your hand to take a blur-free image. The company compared this feature to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, as seen in the image above. Other notable camera features include high-quality Live Photos, a so-called Softlight Portrait mode, and three photo styles/profiles that mimic film images.
OPPO Find X8 Pro: A contender for the best camera phone?
The Find X8 Pro is the more premium of the two products, with a larger 6.78-inch micro-curved OLED display (2,780 x 1,264, 120Hz, 4,500 nits peak brightness) and a 5,910mAh battery.
However, the Pro model also stands out on the camera front, with OPPO revealing that it features two periscope cameras: a 50MP 3x shooter (f/2.6) and a 50MP 6x camera (f/4.3). The rest of the rear camera system consists of a 50MP f/1.6 main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens (120-degree field of view). The 32MP camera handles selfies and video calls. Therefore, those looking for the best camera phone should keep this device in mind.
The company also adopted an Apple-style camera shutter button. Similar to the button on the iPhone 16, this camera key supports both a press to capture and a swipe to zoom in/out. Therefore, this effectively becomes the first Android smartphone with this type of multifunctional camera key.
OPPO Find X8: Not a Pro, but still a flagship
Don’t need a pro-level flagship? In that case, the standard Find X8 might be the right choice for you. The vanilla phone is equipped with the aforementioned Dimensity 9400 chip, a 6.59-inch OLED display (2,760 x 1,256, 120Hz, 4,500 nits peak brightness), and a 5,630mAh battery. It’s also relatively thin and light at 7.85 mm thick and 193 grams.
For camera-related details, the Find X8 is equipped with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens (120-degree field of view), and a 50MP 3x periscope camera (f/2.6). Interestingly, OPPO claimed that the latter is the world’s first “inverted” periscope camera. The brand says this innovation reduces module size by 33%. Otherwise, you can expect the device to feature a 32MP camera on the front.
