TL;DR
- Some Pixel 8 Pro users are reporting an issue with the swipe gesture back after updating to Android 15.
- To resolve this issue, turn gesture navigation off and on again and restart your device.
Google rolled out Android 15 to Pixel devices a few days ago. Although this update is exciting and brings a lot of new features that everyone is looking forward to, we know that some users don’t have the best experience with it. Pixel 8 Pro users are reporting that a new update has made the swipe-back gesture from the right edge of the phone virtually non-functional. Thankfully, there appears to be a fix for that as well.
Redditor vastateofmind pointed out that he started facing issues with the swipe back gesture on his Pixel 8 Pro. Strangely, the problem only occurred when swiping in from the right edge of the phone, not from the left edge. The user is using a tempered glass screen protector and the touch sensitivity setting is turned on. In any case, the same combination worked fine on Android 14, but I’m facing issues with new platform updates.
Other users also said they were facing similar issues and often faced the same issue on both ends of the device. There’s also a thread on Google Issue Tracker with lots of feedback. However, two Pixel 8 Pros running stable Android 15 do not have this issue.
How to fix swipe back gesture on Pixel 8 Pro after updating to Android 15
If you are also facing this issue, fortunately there is a fix for it too. Redditor v0lume4 pointed out that users who previously complained about issues in the Android 15 beta were able to fix the issue with a simple toggle in the three-button navigation.
This seems to work for many users, so give it a try on your device.
- go to Settings > System > Navigation mode.
- switch to 3 button navigationAfter switching to gesture navigation.
- If this still doesn’t fix the swipe back gesture, try restarting your phone.
