Samsung may release a tri-fold smartphone in 2025, a South Korean industry official has revealed. The company is technology ready and its supply chain is ready for new products. Still, the final inquiry has to come from the MX (Mobile eXperience) department responsible for foldable phones.
According to the report, orders for foldable OLED panels decreased by more than 10% as demand for Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 did not meet expectations.

Samsung Display’s shipments of foldable OLED panels are expected to reach 12 million units in 2024, a significant 40% decrease from last year’s 20 million units. This includes screens from Galaxy products and other companies that rely on Samsung as a supplier, such as Xiaomi, vivo, and Oppo.
In particular, sales of Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 were approximately 8 million units, lower than the expected sales of 10 million units. The sales trend of all devices, new and old, is decreasing year by year. Another way Samsung is trying to combat this problem is by making the form factor more accessible to more users with the cheaper Galaxy Flip, according to the report.
