The Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is a solid budget tablet with a great display, sturdy design, and decent updates from Samsung that should support at least up to Android 16. It’s one of the best Android tablets in its price range, and since it’s been out for a year now, we’re already thinking about a follow-up. There are definitely some things that could be improved next time. Please keep that in mind. I would like to outline some of the features on my wishlist for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A10 Plus.
Improved charging speed
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
The Galaxy A9 Plus is equipped with a large 7,040mAh battery that can easily last several days between charges. However, it only supports 15W wired charging, so charging the battery to full can be horrendously slow, so good luck when it comes to recharging. Even when using a “fast charger” capable of 15W speeds, the charging time from zero to full charge takes more than 3 hours.
The Galaxy A10 Plus should offer at least 21W fast charging. This can still take more than two hours to charge from empty, but it’s a solid upgrade without significantly increasing costs. However, given the Plus name, I would expect even better speeds than this, but only if it can be achieved without significantly impacting the retail price.
I wish there was a fingerprint scanner

As more people use mobile devices as their primary gateway to the web, concerns about security exploits and malware have grown. Privacy and security in general are becoming increasingly important, but the only form of biometric security on the A9 Plus is the less secure facial recognition option. Now it’s time to add a fingerprint scanner. Although development costs may increase slightly, a rear-mounted scanner or a scanner built into the power button makes it relatively cheap and easy to add this important functionality.
4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is no longer enough
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
Galaxy A9 Plus came in two variants besides the base model. One focused on adding 5G connectivity, but kept the base model’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD). The other didn’t have 5G, but was upgraded to 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM. In my opinion, the Galaxy A10 Plus starts at 128GB storage and 6GB RAM, and you should go for the more expensive model with 8GB RAM and options of 128GB or 256GB storage.
This time a more stable experience out of the box
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus was a great device, but it had serious software issues, including multi-touch issues that plagued it for months at launch. While a certain amount of bugs are to be expected with new products, the Galaxy A10 Plus should offer a more stable out-of-the-box experience. Otherwise, users may lose confidence in the upcoming Tab A Plus series.

Will Samsung Galaxy Tab A10 Plus arrive?
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
The original Galaxy Tab A debuted in 2015 as a mid-range replacement for the Galaxy Tab S series and has since gone through eight iterations, not including different size variations. Given this long history, it is almost certain that we will see the next generation of the Tab A. However, since the Galaxy Tab A Plus is a new product that was only released in 2023, its future is not very guaranteed. The A9 Plus differentiates itself by adding at least a 90Hz panel (compared to the standard A9’s 60Hz display) and thinner bezels to give it a more premium feel. We can’t say for sure whether the Galaxy Tab A10 Plus will continue this strategy, but it seems likely.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Tab A10 Plus arrive? This is even harder to predict, but at least we can find a pattern in past releases.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus — October 17, 2023
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 — December 15, 2021
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 — September 11, 2020
Historically, Samsung has released a new Galaxy Tab A every one to two years, often in late summer or early fall. While the A9 Plus is a new addition, the standard Galaxy Tab A9 also follows the same pattern and was launched a few days ago. There are few rumors so far, but the Galaxy Tab A10 Plus could be announced in the coming weeks or months. Given the gap between the A8 and A9 series, the A10 Plus may not arrive until summer or fall of 2025.
Should I wait for Samsung Galaxy Tab A10 Plus?
Ryan Haynes / Android Authority
The Galaxy Tab A9 Plus has only been out for a year now, but its successor is still about a year away. The Tab A10 Plus probably improves on the A9 Plus in many ways, but the changes may not be big enough to be worth waiting that long. Not sold in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A series, but looking for another budget option? Perhaps Amazon Fire HD 10 ($139.99 at Amazon) is one of the best products here, but you’ll have to spend a little more money If you don’t mind, the base Apple iPad 10 ($413 at Amazon) is a good alternative.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus
Bigger, sleeker display • Better, more rugged design • Lower base price
Samsung’s entry-level tablet is the best yet.
Samsung’s affordable Galaxy Tab A series is even better with an upgraded processor, a smooth 90Hz display, and a new lower price.
