Samsung Galaxy S25 FE could bring a double surprise

Samsung announced its latest Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S24 FE, just a few weeks ago. But it looks like the company already has some radical plans for a successor early next year.

Citing a supply chain report, South Korean outlet The Elec reports that the Galaxy S25 FE will maintain the 6.7-inch format, mirroring the ultra-large approach taken by the Galaxy S24 FE. Opinions are a little divided on this year’s increase in display size, but it looks like there are some interesting changes planned for 2025.

A report from Samsung’s domestic market states that the Galaxy S25 FE is being considered to arrive in stores as a “slim” model. To achieve that, Samsung is likely to trim the battery package while increasing the surface area.

Well, the latest predictions are pretty surprising, and also somewhat familiar. We’ve already found multiple reports claiming that an iPhone 17 “Air” is in development at Apple, and it could very well leverage the battery advances the company has already shown off with the iPhone 16 Pro. is expensive.

There was a time in the industry when creating slimmer devices was all the rage. Back in 2014, the Vivo V5 Max emerged as the world’s thinnest phone with a cross section of just 4.75 mm, almost half the thickness of the iPhone 16 Pro.

This trend quickly receded. This transition was made out of necessity as practicality led to a surge in demand for technologies such as more powerful camera modules, larger batteries, and wireless charging. But that doesn’t mean smartphone makers have given up on their ambitions, and the race to become thinner has now reached the foldable smartphone segment.

As for the Galaxy S25 FE, that’s still a bit far in the future. In the future, plans may also change, as testing and validation of prototype units will begin in Samsung’s laboratories.

Speaking of plans, MediaTek appears to have secured a lucrative deal with Samsung centered around the Galaxy S25 series. According to a new leak (via Gadgets 360), the Dimensity 9400 system on the newly launched chip will run inside the Galaxy S25 FE.

For the remaining flagship Galaxy S25 series phones, Samsung has reportedly secured Qualcomm as its sole supplier. The silicon in question will most likely be Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is also expected to power the OnePlus 13 and other Android flagships towards 2025.
