Samsung is currently rumored to be saving money on displays for its upcoming Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to arrive in January in three members: S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. To save on this cost, the company will reportedly adopt M13 organic material for the display.
Google’s Pixel 9 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro already use M14 material panels, which are also made by Samsung Display. But while Samsung Electronics is said to opt for older, cheaper options in order to make some extra cash, rest assured that those savings won’t be passed on to buyers.

If you’re wondering what the M14 material offers compared to M13, it’s clear that it’s 20-30% more efficient and has 10-20% longer lifespan. If you simply compare the numbers, it seems that the peak brightness is slightly higher. This rumor started in South Korea, but was also confirmed by display supply chain consultant Ross Young, a generally reliable source of smartphone supply chain related information.
Having said that, keep in mind that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will definitely continue to use the Gorilla Glass Armor introduced in the previous model, which significantly reduces screen reflectance. This means lower brightness will reach farther because you don’t have to fight reflections.
