Samsung is already making headlines for its upcoming Galaxy A series, and the Galaxy A56 is at the forefront of that conversation.

Expected to continue the success of the Galaxy A55, this new phone promises significant upgrades and aims to be the best mid-range phone you can buy at launch.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Galaxy A56, including a possible release date, expected price, and rumored specs.

When will Samsung Galaxy A56 be released?

The Galaxy A56 is expected to be officially launched in the first quarter of 2025, with the announcement month likely to be March. This follows the traditional release pattern for Samsung’s Galaxy A series, rolling out globally immediately after announcement.

As a reminder, here are the previous Galaxy A50 series models when they were launched.

Samsung has been conducting network tests and other development processes for the Galaxy A56, indicating that the device is in its final preparation stages. The release schedule appears to be in early 2025, as the IMEI database listing and model number (SM-A566B/DS) have already been confirmed (spotted by SmartPrix).

The Galaxy A55 hasn’t been released in the US, so we’re assuming the A56 won’t be available here either, but we hope we’re wrong.

How much does Samsung Galaxy A56 cost?

Although there is no official confirmation yet, the price of the Galaxy A56 is expected to be similar to its predecessor Galaxy A55.

What’s more, Samsung has decided to cut the starting price of the Galaxy A55 in the UK by £10, so it might do the same again this time.

For reference, the costs of the previous generation are:

  • Galaxy A55: £439
  • Galaxy A54: £449/$449
  • Galaxy A53: £399/$449
  • Galaxy A52: £399/$499

Samsung’s pricing strategy for mid-range devices typically focuses on a balance between affordability and premium features. Equipped with a powerful new chipset and other upgrades, the Galaxy A56 should be competitively priced to appeal to a wide audience.

Once this phone arrives in the US, it could cost around $449.

What specs and features does Samsung Galaxy A56 have?

The Galaxy A56 is expected to receive some notable upgrades compared to the Galaxy A55. Here, we take a closer look at the rumored specifications and features of the upcoming device.

design

The Galaxy A56 is likely to continue Samsung’s trend of offering premium designs in its mid-range lineup. We can expect a glass back with a metal frame, possibly with an IP67 or IP68 dust and water resistance rating, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back of the phone.

Samsung may also further improve the design by reducing the bezel size and improving the overall build quality. The phone is expected to be available in multiple colors, similar to the Galaxy A55’s ice blue, lilac, navy, and lemon.

screen

The Galaxy A56 will likely feature a 6.6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate as the A55. However, this display supports HDR10+ and has improved brightness output compared to its predecessor, which was rated at 1000 nits.

If Samsung decides to increase the maximum brightness, it could improve visibility in bright outdoor conditions, and users will definitely appreciate this feature.

performance

Galaxy A56 is expected to be powered by the new Exynos 1580 chipset boasting a 1+3+4 core configuration. This includes one high-performance Cortex-A720 core at 2.91 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.95 GHz.

Geekbench 5 score of Exynos 1580 (codename Santa) has been detected.

Single-core : 1046 pts
Multi-core : 3678 pts

Equivalent to Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100.

According to a Geekbench run in July (via GSMArena), this configuration should significantly improve performance. It will be equivalent to Snapdragon 888. This chip was included in many flagship-class phones in 2021.

The Exynos 1580 is likely to be paired with the Xclipse 540 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA2 architecture, offering better graphics performance than its predecessor. This combination enables a smooth gaming and multitasking experience, along with support for advanced AI features.

The phone may be available in 8/128GB and 8/256GB RAM storage options. However, like the A55, a 12GB RAM version may also be available in some countries.

camera

Although specific details regarding the camera setup have not been confirmed, the Galaxy A56 is likely to retain the triple camera setup seen on its predecessor. This could include a 50Mp main sensor, a 12Mp ultrawide lens, and a 5Mp depth or macro sensor.

However, there is speculation (via PhoneArena) that Samsung could replace the macro lens with a telephoto option to offer more versatility.

The front camera is expected to be a 32Mp shooter, perfect for high-quality selfies and video calls.

Additionally, Samsung’s software enhancements and AI features supported by the new chipset could further improve camera performance.

battery and charging

The Galaxy A56 is expected to come with a 5000mAh battery, similar to the Galaxy A55.

The battery capacity remains the same, but the increased efficiency of the new Exynos 1580 chipset could improve battery life.

Charging speeds are expected to remain at 25W wired charging, with hopes that Samsung may eventually introduce wireless charging to this mid-range phone.

This feature is a common request from users and adds a level of convenience and modernity to the A5x line.

software

The Galaxy A56 is likely to run on Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7.1 out of the box. This version of One UI is expected to offer several new features, including stronger privacy controls, improved AI capabilities, and better integration with Samsung’s ecosystem of devices and services.

There are also rumors suggesting that Samsung intends to provide up to six years of Android OS and security updates for new mid-range devices, which means the Galaxy A56 could receive updates up to Android 21. means.

This long-term support is a strong selling point for users who want a device that will stay up-to-date and secure for years.
