Samsung Galaxy A26 arrives with faster Exynos 1280 chip

Over the past few days, details about Samsung’s upcoming mid-range phone have emerged. Just yesterday, a possible Galaxy A36 design was leaked. Now, the Galaxy A26 has appeared for the first time, revealing its processor and other details.

Galaxy A26 uses Exynos 1280 chip

An unreleased Samsung smartphone with model number SM-A266B has appeared in Geekbench’s database. Looking at Samsung’s model number, the phone will be launched as Galaxy A26 and will feature 5G connectivity. The upcoming mid-range phone appears to be running Android 15 (possibly One UI 7.1).

Samsung Galaxy A26 Exynos 1280 Geekbench Score

The phone uses a processor codenamed S5E8825, which is associated with Exynos 1280. A closer look at this Geekbench listing reveals that the processor is running at a higher clock speed than the chip typically runs at. It is equipped with ARM’s Mali-G68 GPU. The listing also revealed that the Galaxy A26 comes with 6GB RAM.

The Exynos 1280 has two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2 GHz. However, this time the performance core is clocked at 2.6 GHz. So it’s possible that Samsung overclocked the chip or used a better manufacturing process to allow the chip to reach higher speeds without getting hot.

What else can you expect from the Galaxy A26?

Not much else is known about the phone. Hopefully, like the Galaxy A36, Samsung uses an Infinity-O screen on the Galaxy A26 as well. If so, this phone will finally look like a modern device, unlike the Galaxy A25, which has a U-shaped notch on the screen to house the front-facing camera.

The Galaxy A25 already has a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera, so the Galaxy A26 may not see any improvements in that regard. The Galaxy A25 also has a 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging, so the Galaxy A26 may end up using the same specs.

The phone runs Android 15 out of the box and gets six major Android OS updates (up to Android 21).
