- According to rumors, the dimensions of the Pixel 9a could be 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm.
- According to speculation, the Pixel 9a’s display could grow from 6.1 inches on the Pixel 8a to 6.2 inches or 6.3 inches.
- A number of Pixel 9a rendering allegations have surfaced recently, suggesting that the smartphone may abandon some of the more iconic aspects of the Pixel lineup.
A new leak claims that the dimensions of Google’s next low-cost Pixel have been narrowed down.
The leak comes from famous X tipster OnLeaks, who says he has received “latest data” regarding the dimensions of the Pixel 9a (via Android Headlines). According to rumors, the dimensions of the upcoming A-series Pixel could be 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm. The tipster adds that the final measurement will be “9.4mm” considering the rear camera housing.
These measurements are slightly taller (taller) than the Pixel 8a’s 152.1 x 72.7 x 8.9mm measurements, suggesting a wider device.
Rumors regarding this device’s display remain relatively uncertain. However, the publication theorizes that slight changes to the Pixel 9a’s dimensions could result in a slight increase in display. The publication speculates that the Pixel 9a could greet users with a 6.2- to 6.3-inch display, which would compete with the flagship Pixel 9.
Additionally, as the publication adds, A-series Pixels often boast larger bezels than the flagship line. With that in mind, this slight dimensional change may not be that significant. Pixel 9a could end up with the following features even more Bezel more noticeable than we would like.
Please note that this is speculation at this point.
Oh, and by the way… the #Google #Pixel9a dimensions published 3 weeks ago don’t appear to be 100% accurate as we recently received updated data. Very slightly different at 154.7 x 73.2 x 8.9 mm (9.4 mm). (Including slim rear camera ring)… pic.twitter.com/qZvYptiwR9October 18, 2024
There’s still some time until the Pixel 9a is announced, but that doesn’t stop a slew of renders from being released. The alleged images suggest that the Pixel 9a will mirror the design of the flagship Pixel 9 series, but with one major change. It’s the lack of a camera visor. Rumors suggest that the phone will get rid of the huge camera bump and adopt an array that is flush with the back panel.
In August, Google endorsed the Pixel 9’s big and proud camera bump. But the company pointed to consumer interest in photography as the catalyst for the surge. Claude Zellweger, director of design for Google’s Pixel smartphones, said the interest in sharper, sharper photos requires more robust sensors and lenses, and that’s a big issue.
It remains to be seen how this rumored change will affect the Pixel 9a’s camera performance.
In other news, the Pixel 9a is rumored to feature strange Tensor G4 modifications. This “slightly different” SoC may feature a different packaging method that could result in higher temperatures for the phone. We’ve seen this happen with the Pixel 7a as well, so history seems to be repeating itself.
Pixel 9a is rumored to debut in Q2 2025.
