Quick Share has become even more useful since Google integrated Nearby Share earlier this year. However, the whole experience still has some rough edges, and Google is working on ironing out some common bugs to make everything smoother. This was made possible by a new update.

Quick Share for Windows update fixes bugs and improves speed

After releasing a bug fix update last month, Google has released another update for Quick Share for Windows. This version (v1.0.2002.2) Several bugs have been fixed, including one that forced the app to crash or prevent files from opening if the filename contained non-ASCII characters. It also fixes an issue that would force the app to crash when using Bluetooth.

Some people had issues changing app settings. Some people face problems when trying to save settings. In some cases, after you install Quick Share for Windows, the app icon may not appear in the Start menu. The company also fixed a bug that stopped devices from being discovered on local networks over Wi-Fi. The new version of the app also resolves an issue related to preventing Wi-Fi hotspot profiles from being deleted incorrectly or unable to be restored when the app crashes during file transfer.

In previous versions of the app, if your Android phone/tablet and Windows computer were not on the same local network, file transfers were done over Bluetooth, which was very slow. Android permissions Google says it has fixed this issue and file transfers will now occur over the Wi-Fi Direct network, which will be automatically created and shared between two participating devices. .

Unfortunately, Google’s Quick Share app for Windows has not been updated to work on ARM-powered Windows laptops. So if you have a laptop with a Qualcomm processor, you won’t be able to use that app to transfer files. Instead, you should use Samsung’s Quick Share app. Yes, there are two Quick Share apps. One is made by Google and the other is made by Samsung.
