Qualcomm announced its latest mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, at the Snapdragon Summit on Tuesday. This advanced chip will be included in upcoming smartphones from major brands such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, ASUS, and OPPO. The OnePlus 13, which goes on sale in China on October 31st, will be one of the first devices equipped with this new chip.
Snapdragon 8 Elite promises increased speed, efficiency, and intelligence compared to its predecessor. This is the first smartphone chip to incorporate Qualcomm’s new Oryon CPU design, which can increase performance while reducing power consumption. Qualcomm claims the chip will allow for smoother and faster phone operation while also extending battery life.
The main highlight of this chip is its ability to handle artificial intelligence (AI) tasks directly on the device. This includes understanding speech, recognizing images, and processing context to enhance device intelligence. For example, you can recognize voice commands or improve the quality of your photos while maintaining your privacy as these tasks are performed on your phone without requiring an internet connection.
Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 8 Elite is its fastest mobile processor ever. Its AnTuTu score exceeded 3 million, ranking it at the top of the performance charts. Its CPU reaches speeds of up to 4.32 GHz, delivering up to 45% performance improvement compared to the previous generation.
The Adreno GPU inside Snapdragon 8 Elite boosts graphics performance by 40%, perfect for mobile gaming and high-quality video playback. It is also highly power efficient and can be used for a long time without draining the battery quickly.
This chip supports up to 320 MP cameras and can record 8K video at 60 frames per second, resulting in extremely high resolution. It also supports slow-motion video recording at 1080p and 480 frames per second.
To enhance your internet speed and connectivity, this chip includes support for 5G and Wi-Fi 7, ensuring a stronger and more stable connection.
Snapdragon 8 Elite will power many upcoming high-end smartphones, offering faster speeds, improved AI features, and enhanced camera and gaming experiences. It aims to extend battery life and provide smoother phone operation.
