OnePlus announced via an online event on the official OnePlus channel that it will release an update to its OxygenOS operating system with Android 15 on October 24th.
The company says OxygenOS 15 brings “meaningful AI features” and a “distinct design style” with a focus on ease of use and speedy performance.
There are no specific details yet on the AI features mentioned, but OnePlus says they are “strategically designed across multiple common scenarios.”
It’s not yet clear whether these AI tools will be proprietary or based on those built into the Android 15 operating system.
OnePlus says that the underlying animations of the Android operating system have been rebuilt for OxygenOS 15, with the aim of providing a smoother experience.
OxygenOS 15 will be the first version of OnePlus’ proprietary wrapper for Android 15, whose source code was released on September 4th.
However, it’s only recently that phone manufacturers have started implementing the latest versions of the world’s most popular operating system, with Android developer Google rolling out Android 15 to its Pixel smartphones on October 15th. It has expanded.
On October 17, we reported that Motorola will start issuing the Android 15 update to some devices in beta, and Xiaomi and Honor will follow the same path in the global market.
However, we do not expect OxygenOS 15 to be released in beta. This means OnePlus could become the second phone maker to implement a stable release of Android 15.
Which OnePlus smartphones are likely to come with Android 15?
We don’t yet know which OnePlus smartphones will get the OxygenOS 15 update, but we hope all the best OnePlus smartphones get the update.
OnePlus has promised four years of updates for each device, so the premium OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open, as well as the mid-range OnePlus Nord 4, could also receive this Android 15-powered update.
The OnePlus 12R is still in the first year of its promised three years of updates, so it’s likely to come with OxygenOS 15 as well.
For now, much of the above is still speculation, so we’ll stay tuned for further official announcements from OnePlus.
