I’m sure none of you expected something like this to happen. NVIDIA is rolling out a fall update for the Shield TV experience.
NVIDIA has detailed the patch notes for the October update for the Shield TV (based on Android TV) streaming experience. The company is packaging this update as a hotfix, which is reportedly a continuation of the first v9.1.1 variant in July 2023. Starting October 8th, users will be able to start downloading/installing the “second hotfix” version 33.2.0.252.
NVIDIA says it will update the “Match Frame Rate” beta feature for Shield TV devices. The October patch also fixes the “SHIELD Drive Full” issue. This should also fix the “no audio” issue that occurs with Shield TVs through headsets connected to controllers.
A crash with GeForce Now has been fixed along with a “distortion” effect seen when using the “RGB 8-bit Rec.709” display mode.

In 2019, NVIDIA Shield TV was said to be the longest supported Android device. It wasn’t like that phone. Keep in mind, this is when the phone received two years of OS and security updates. Currently, more than 7 cases have been confirmed. Interestingly, NVIDIA’s Shield TV is still Long-life Android-enabled devices. 2025 is coming soon, but the first model was released in 2015.
