Important points
- Motorola has secretly listed which devices will be running Android 15.
- It appears that the company has no intention of updating many low-end devices to Android 15 starting in 2023.
- Motorola typically takes a long time to roll out new OS updates to its devices.
After months of public beta testing, Google will reportedly roll out Android 15 for compatible Pixel smartphones this Tuesday, October 15th. Following Pixel, other major Android manufacturers should soon begin rolling out Android 15 for their flagship and premium devices. Motorola is usually late to the party, taking its time updating its devices to the latest Android releases. That may not change this year, but the company has at least revealed which devices will be running Android 15.

Many older Motorola smartphones won’t receive the Android 15 update
At first glance, you might think this list covers all of Motorola’s most popular and latest devices. But that’s not the case, and many of Motorola’s budget devices from 2023 onwards are missing from the list, including the Moto G Power (2023) and Moto G Stylus (2023). These phones have launched with Android 13 from the start, and it looks like Motorola will only provide one major OS update.
The original Motorola Razr, which launched with Android 12 in October 2022, remains stuck on Android 14 as well. Many other low-end Moto smartphones are no longer on the list, but will continue to receive security patches for now. Phones like the Moto Edge 30 Ultra and Moto Edge 40 are also not currently listed as eligible for Android 15, so Motorola may still be considering bringing Android 15 to many of its older devices.
But don’t be too happy just because your Moto smartphone is on the list. The company can take a long time to roll out new OS updates, so it could be a year or more before you can try Android 15 on your phone.
