The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 for government agencies and nonprofit organizations, with a deadline of October 31st. More than $200,000 will be awarded to arts initiatives in our region.
Applications funded by the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council through these important grant opportunities include festivals, community theater, folk music entertainment, visual demonstration sponsorships, creative workshops, public art, and It includes many other activities that improve people’s quality of life. our community.
Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations, communities, historical societies, fairs, and other service organizations. Applications are being accepted from a seven-county service area in Minnesota, including Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau counties. There are also grant categories for nonprofit arts organizations, schools, and individual artists.

The application process is slightly different this year. All applicants begin by completing the 2025 Arts Grant Application. At the same time, applicants complete data collection required by the State of Minnesota.
October is also the perfect time for nonprofit arts organizations to submit requests for general operations for the 2025 calendar year. Your organization needs to make the arts its main focus and place to spend your money. Your organization must be located within a seven-county service area. For example, if your community theater, arts council, or community band has been operating in a nonprofit capacity for two years, it’s time to apply.
October 31st is the annual deadline for arts equipment grants for schools. This special grant is Allow schools to purchase art equipment for art rooms, theaters, band rooms, etc. Equipment used solely for artistic pursuits, such as kilns, theater lights, and band instruments, is more likely to be funded. Grants of up to $3,000 will be awarded with a 25% cash match requirement. Please contact our office for instructions regarding applying as a school for arts facilities and artist residencies. Schools apply once per academic year to demonstrate interest and apply for funding for specific activities through add-ons within the application portal.
