At a time when sustainability and cost-effectiveness are paramount, the refurbished gadget market in India is booming. NewJaisa is taking advantage of this transformation. The company has quickly grown from a modest start-up to a major force in providing high-quality refurbished laptops and desktops.
We spoke to Vishes Handa, founder and CEO of NewJaisa, to find out about the company’s founding, its approach to technology and AI, and the challenges and opportunities in India’s remanufactured gadget industry.
Q) When did you launch NewJaisa? What do you think about the refurbished gadget market?
NewJaisa technology was announced in 2020. We were the babies of the coronavirus pandemic, and the disparity between the haves and have-nots was very stark. Since affording a PC was a luxury for most people in Bharat, only 9% of Indians could afford to get an education online. We took on the challenge of offering a full-featured AIO for less than 13,999 ₹, a price point that we thought would be useful to many people. With a staff of five, 2,000 square feet of space, a few dollars, and a huge passion for delivery, we were able to have our product ready in seven days flat. And to our own surprise, it became a bestseller on Amazon within a week. Four years later, we have grown like a rocket from 2,000 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft space, 5 to 500 employees, 1 to 250 SKUs, and 0 to ₹62 Cr revenue.

Q) What are the biggest challenges and opportunities in the Indian refurbished gadgets market?
The biggest challenges include educating consumers about the benefits of remanufactured products, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality devices, and navigating competition from a large unorganized market that relies on illegal imports. will appear. However, exciting opportunities exist, including increased awareness of sustainability, increasing demand for affordable technology, and the potential for expansion into new markets and product categories. India’s PC penetration rate is 13%, significantly lower than the US (81%), China (47%) and the EU (81%), indicating high growth potential. Refurbished laptops pose a market opportunity of approximately $2.5 billion by FY33, and the Indian organization sector is expected to penetrate approximately 50% of the market by 2028, from approximately 10% currently.
The rise of NewJaisa signals a major shift in consumer behavior as demand for affordable and environmentally friendly technology solutions increases. By leveraging advanced technologies such as AI and focusing on a customer-centric strategy, the company is not only addressing current market challenges but also paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive technology future in India. I’m cutting it open. The mantra “Say no to new” sums up the movement towards smarter consumption, which NewJaisa fully embraces.
