One of the biggest issues with the iPad mini 6 that has come to light is jelly scrolling, with users sharing their disappointment over inconsistent display updates across different platforms. With the launch of the iPad mini a few weeks ago, Apple finally seems to have fixed this problem for good. In our review roundup, we mentioned that most users, with the exception of The Verge, won’t see jelly scrolling on the iPad mini 7. Now, a test has been conducted that clearly shows that the iPad mini 7’s jelly scrolling is fixed, putting an end to the long debate.
Apple listened and fixed the iPad mini 7’s jelly scroll as the latest iPad mini 7 shows invisible refresh differences
@NANA_CoRRiENTE posted a video on X that aims to show the iPad mini 6 and iPad mini 7 side by side. Both iPad mini models are simulated with the horizon moving up and down. This indicates that the jelly scroll issue was indeed present in previous models as well. You can see that the horizontal line of the iPad mini on the left has a wobbling effect. This explains the phenomenon where one side of the display refreshes faster than the other.
#iPadmini of #jelly scroll It has been improved!
Left: iPad mini (6th generation)
Right: iPad mini (A17 Pro) *7th generationIf you look closely, it still flickers a little, but this is unavoidable due to the display specifications. With the new model, it’s no longer a problem, so it seems like the jelly scroll is resolved.๐ pic.twitter.com/KpvT4V3VJA

On the iPad mini 7 on the right, you can see that this problem is not noticeable at all. It can often be observed that there are some or very fine scrolls of jelly, but that is just the nature of the display. However, there are still differences between the two models day and night, and you won’t be able to notice the difference in refresh rate between the left and right sides of the panel.
The issue first came to light after the company launched the iPad mini 6 in 2021, and three long years later, Jelly Scroll has now been fixed. This test basically confirms that the problem doesn’t exist and calms down the whole mess.
The iPad mini 7 is one of the best iPads in the entire lineup, and with the new A17 Pro refresh, the company has definitely improved that significantly. We don’t yet know how Apple Intelligence will work on the device, but the fact that it’s available in such a small package makes a big difference. The upgraded chip also brings Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro to the iPad mini lineup, but the device doesn’t support the Stage Manager feature, which is only available on iPads with M-series chips.
