Apple is said to be ‘deeply’ working on the development of the entry-level 11th generation iPad bloombergI’m Mark Garman. The reporter now claims that this model is scheduled to be released in the spring, around the same time as the new iPhone SE 4 and iPad Air.
“Starting in 2022, it will have almost the same design as the current version, but with increased speed,” Garman said in the latest Power On newsletter. The reporter’s prediction is a change from last week, when he predicted the iPhone SE would come with Apple Intelligence features in March 2025, with the entry-level iPad to follow “later this year.”
The current 10th generation iPad is powered by the A14 chip, which was first used in the iPhone 12 lineup. The logical choice for the next “iPad” is the A16, which was used in the iPhone 15 models, but if Apple Intelligence support is offered as expected, it could require an A17 Pro chip or an A18 chip.
Earlier this month, Apple launched its latest iPad mini with Apple Intelligence support through a standalone press release. The company also lowered the price of existing iPad 10s and stopped including a charger with the device in Europe. Both changes are strong indicators that a new iPad won’t be part of Apple’s announcement later this week.
