Announced last week, the new Apple iPad mini (2024) is now available. The new slate comes with 128 GB of storage for $500, double the storage of the previous model. This is a Wi-Fi only model, but you can also get a Wi-Fi+Cellular version for $650. If you need more storage, 256GB and 512GB options are also available.
The key upgrade is the Apple A17 Pro, aka the iPhone 15 Pro chipset, but there are a few downgrades. This and additional RAM (8GB) will allow the new mini to run Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence will be available soon as a software update. iPadOS 18.1 will have its first features arriving later this month, with more to come in the coming months. There is a “however” here. Apple Intelligence will initially be available only in US English (basically, only for people in the US).
The new iPad mini also has faster connectivity. Supports Wi-Fi 6E (ax) which is better than regular Wi-Fi 6. And USB-C 3.2 Gen2 reaches up to 10 Gbps, double the ports on the old mini.
You can find the Apple iPad mini (2024) at Apple’s online store.
