Multiple cars catch fire in Delaware parking lot used for Apple Scrapple Festival, state fire marshal says

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that spread to multiple cars in a Bridgeville, Delaware, parking lot Saturday afternoon.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was reported just after 3 p.m. Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, along with support agencies, responded to the scene in the 18000 block of Wesley Church Road, where multiple fires were reported in the Apple parking lot. I found the car on fire. -Scrapple Festival.

The Delaware State Deputy Fire Marshal arrived on scene and determined that the fire started in one car and then spread, damaging 13 additional cars. Damages are estimated at $300,000 and range from minor to severe, according to a news release.

There were no reports of injuries, and fire officials said there were no signs of criminal activity related to the fire at this time.

The fire remains under investigation and anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Delaware County Fire Marshal’s Office Sussex Division at (302) 856-5600.
