Production of Apple iPhone 16 devices is on schedule, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed. Assembly orders for all four phones are essentially unchanged, while component orders for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are down only 3-5%.
While demand for the base 16 model remains lackluster, shipments for the 16 Pro model are comparable to last year’s orders for the iPhone 15 Pro.
According to the report, suppliers have been asked to continue production of both Pro models during China’s week-long National Day holiday, indicating that demand for the two models has increased significantly for this year’s phones. This means that expectations are generally met. Still, Kuo pointed out that the current shipping period for the 16 Pro is shorter than the shipping period for the iPhone 15 Pro.
The market is bracing for an impact on U.S. market demand and shipments in late October. At that time, Apple is expected to push for software updates powered by Apple Intelligence, which should boost sales. However, this remains primarily an American problem, as AI is not going to spread to Europe or China anytime soon.

The production forecast for iPhone 16 devices in the fourth quarter of 2024 is 88 million to 89 million units, slightly lower than last year’s 90 million to 91 million units.
