Motorola has traditionally lagged far behind its rivals as far as software update policies are concerned. This is gradually changing on some devices, and it’s being secretly revealed which phones will come with Android 15.

This is a seemingly complete list, but it doesn’t take long to realize that many phones are missing. These devices include numerous Moto G 2023 models, Motorola Edge 2023, and Moto G 2022 phones. But the most notable omission may be the Moto G Play 2024, which just launched in January. The device launched with Android 13, but only received Android 14 earlier this month.
Unsurprisingly, Motorola has beefed up updates in several areas recently. Most notably, the company announced the mid-tier Edge 50 Neo last month with five major OS updates and five years of security patches. But Moto G smartphones really need to step up, as they’ve been delivering terrible promises for so long that they’ve delivered only one major update most of the time. In contrast, Samsung just launched the Galaxy A16, which comes with six years of OS and security updates, while its previous budget phone has four major OS updates and five years of security patches.
