For parents who want a “greater say” in how their children use devices at home, the Ministry will continue to offer options to manage devices after school, the ministry said.
The Department for Education said it had taken steps to ensure new applications “effectively meet the needs of schools”, noting that no software solution is “absolutely foolproof”.
The new applications were chosen for their ability to meet “core technical requirements” such as mobile device management, usage management and classroom management, MOE said in a statement.
They also comply with security standards, including independent third-party security certificates and certifications, the ministry said.
To prepare for the introduction of these applications, schools will receive training on how to use them in November, the Ministry of the Environment said.
“MOE will provide resources to schools, guide them through the implementation process, and engage students and parents,” the statement said.
The MOE acknowledged that schools and parents will need time to get used to the new application and may encounter “some issues”.
“The Ministry of the Environment will provide the necessary support throughout the transition period and address any issues that may arise.”
